Signs of the Times TS Wright Scott Wright is back with us today. Scott has been teaching us about the different ages of the Church and significant things the Bible and history has to say about them. Amen.  We have seen recently, some pretty spectacular signs in nature.  We’ve seen a terrible earthquake in Taiwan and, just a few days ago (at the time of this recording) an earthquake in NEW JERSEY – of all places.  Then, just a few days after the earthquake in New Jersey, we had the solar eclipse. I guess the question I have for you todays is, “How does it all relate to us as Christians?”  Or is it just something that is a coincidence in this day and time in which we live?  I believe the Bible is very clear that God will use spectacular events in nature to try and “get our attention” as we approach the end times, correct? I’ve seen reports that animals were “freaking out” (for lack of a better term), during the eclipse. But, if you look at this – so were people. Just look at some of things they were doing during the eclipse. They were basically “worshipping” the eclipse! Before we leave today, I can’t help but bring up what’s happening now in Israel.  When the United States accidently did a drone strike on an innocent civilian who was simply loading water jugs into the trunk of his car – Israel never came out and publicly criticized the United States for being reckless and calling for an immediate end to the war. But yet, Israel makes the same type of mistake – and suddenly, our government is calling for an immediate cease fire.  So – here we go again – the entire WORLD is now at odds against the victims of an unprovoked attack and they in a position where the US is discussing cutting back their aid and support.  Your thoughts on this? Scott, this has been so interesting as we discuss the current situation over in Israel. The “gods” are Here Tom Donnan How important is it that God’s people be armed with the knowledge of the spiritual battle that we are already in the middle of? Even non-believers are beginning to recognize the evil that is going on… Jonathan Cahn put out a video where he went into detail on how the ancient world was exploited by various gods. He explained as how they worshipped these gods, they were actually worshipping demonic forces. The evil we are seeing, almost every night on the news, is evidence of demonic influences and even demonic possession. Don’t you agree? In Jesus day, He and His followers took on these evil forces head-on and demonstrated the “authority of the believer.”  That’s why his followers were persecuted to the extent they were because they refused to worship the pagan gods. Do you believe that is what is behind the persecution the Christians are beginning to see happening today? Jesus told us that when a demon is cast out, in Matthew 12:43-45, “When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, “I’ll return to the house I left.” When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. It then goes and finds seven other demons worse than itself and all of them come and live there. The last state of the man becomes worse than the first. That is the way it WILL ALSO BE with this evil generation.”  Think about it like this… America was settled by Christians seeking a place to worship the Creator of the Universe, and serve as Jesus taught us.  All of our laws and foundational documents, etc. were based on Judeo-Christian values.  That is why we have been so blessed. We were able to drive any demonic forces and influences from America.  They left, roamed the earth, settled in amongst various people groups…and NOW – they have returned, bringing in even worse demonic forces to reoccupy this land. And, as Jesus said, “That is the way it WILL ALSO BE in this evil generation.” I believe this is what we are seeing right now… What do you think? Jonathan Cahn, in his video, described HOW these gods have now returned this nation. Raising Other People’s Children Debbie Ausburn Today, there are more than 400K children in foster care in the United States. The reason for this varies from child abuse and neglect. Whether physical abuse, psychological abuse or sexual abuse – these are all significant reasons children are removed from homes. They can also cause long lasting mental health issues and authority issues as well.  Neglect can run the gamut from failing to fulfill a child’s needs for food, hygiene, education, etc. Even withholding medical care.  Sometimes there is the situation where a child is abandoned. Whether financial pressures, emotional pressure or other reasons, the parent drops the child off somewhere and never returns. Then, there is the totally tragic case of when a parent dies, leaving nobody to raise the child.  All of these situations are tragic. All of these situations can scar a child for life. All of these situations require someone to step up and help.  That is where our guest today has come in. Debbie Ausburn is a social worker, turned lawyer, who has worked with youth-serving organizations for more than 40 years.  She has served as a camp counselor, juvenile court probation officer, group home parent, criminal prosecutor of crimes against children and as a litigation attorney advising youth-serving organizations throughout the United States.   Her most important challenges, however, have been parenting foster children and stepchildren.  She has never had biological children of her own, but she has collected seven children and ten grandchildren.  Praise God… She has put the lessons that her children taught her over the years into a book titled, “Raising Other People’s Children: What Foster Parenting Taught Me about Bringing Together a Blended Family.” Help me welcome to the program, Debbie Ausburn.  Debbi, thank you for taking the time to join us today. Other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Debbie Ausburn?” Let’s start with your book, “Raising Other People’s Children: What Foster Parenting Taught Me about Bringing Together a Blended Family.”  Why did you write this book? In your book, “Raising Other People’s Children,” you share that your goal was never to replace the parent that was supposed to be there and raising the kids. But that your goal was to forge a strong and rewarding relationship with them.  In effect, becoming that child’s “Plan B” for support.  I guess the question I have for you is “How do you communicate that to a troubled child or teen that has been placed into your care?” You share that you may not be the person who is “supposed to be there,” – but you are the person who “is there.”  Also in your book, you share it was a bit more difficult after you were married. How difficult was that transition time for him to, basically, “catch up” with those skills? Can you explain for us a term you use, The “ACE” or “Adverse Childhood Experiences” that children suffer from? What is this and why is it important to understand? You share a couple of examples that I think would be hard for someone to deal with if they were  not prepared for it themselves. She was born as an illegitimate, unwanted child… suffered sexual abuse by her step-father up to age nine, when she was left for dead. But God. Amen. But God… Despite her suffering, she continued to excel through school and through God’s provision, was able to pass her classes well enough to train for and become a teacher. Amen! All her life, she continued to ask questions and gain wisdom through seeking the answers. This has enabled her to help those who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities to learn and grow as well.  She lived in denial of what she went through for many years, including her own husband’s betrayal.  One night, while praying she heard her name called and since then, now more than 30 years I believe, God called her back to the Church to minister to others who have also felt betrayal and abuse.  She says the went through the “dark night of the soul” and found the mystery of the “inner world” – and what it means to live in Spirit and in Truth. She learned the wonder of humility and the mystery of casting all her burdens on Christ – and live for Him and by Him. Amen! She is a counselor to those that seek help. But the main point is – WE ARE ALREADY in the end times. We see Israel at war with Hamas – and instead of supporting Israel’s right to defend itself and eliminate the threat from within their borders forever, the world is condemning Israel. Some even condone the attacks of October 7thsaying “Hamas was defending itself against Israel aggression.” Add in the Huthi rebels threatening international shipping and the United States trying to defend the ships by attacking the Iranian backed rebels… Add in the recent drone attacks by Iranian backed militia in Jordan.  This was identified several months ago by President Biden and the Defense Department as a “red line” that should not be crossed. Well, they crossed it. So the question now is, “What will happen next?” All of the tensions are linked back to Iran. Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. Is the United States about to go to war against Iran? What does the Bible say about that perspective? Surviving the First Five Minutes of a School Shooting Daniel Dluzneski pt 2 We have all seen the news reports of active shootings taking place in schools, businesses and things like that. We have all watched as parents grieve and people ask, “Why?” “Why did this happen?” “What could have been done differently?” We all remember Columbine… it was after that event that “active shooter” training started to be taught to law enforcement. I had to go through it as a police officer. I prayed I would never need to use it… but I was ready if it ever took place. You don’t have time for S.W.A.T. in most cases.  In fact, you don’t really have time for the police to arrive before you take some kind of action.  This is now taught to churches, businesses and schools across the country. At the first indication of an active shooter, the first five minutes are the most important for your survival and those you love and care about. If you do the right thing in those first few minutes, your chances of survival jump immensely. Remember the adage, “When you need help now, the police are only minutes away.” Our guest today specializes in conducting “Active Shooter Training” for schools and businesses. Daniel Dluzneski is a retired 24 year member of US Secret Service Agency. The Former Coordinator for Emergency Management, Safety and Security for the Pinellas County Schools in Florida and the author of very important book titled, appropriately, “The First Five Minutes: School Shooting Survival Guide for Administrators and Teachers.” This is part two and the conclusion of a very important interview that needs to be shared far and wide in this day and time in which we live...
