Raising Other People’s Children – Debbie Ausburn

Raising Other People’s Children – Debbie Ausburn

Raising Other People’s Children Debbie Ausburn Today, there are more than 400K children in foster care in the United States. The reason for this varies from child abuse and neglect. Whether physical abuse, psychological abuse or sexual abuse – these are all significant reasons children are removed from homes. They can also cause long lasting mental health issues and authority issues as well.  Neglect can run the gamut from failing to fulfill a child’s needs for food, hygiene, education, etc. Even withholding medical care.  Sometimes there is the situation where a child is abandoned. Whether financial pressures, emotional pressure or other reasons, the parent drops the child off somewhere and never returns. Then, there is the totally tragic case of when a parent dies, leaving nobody to raise the child.
All of these situations are tragic. All of these situations can scar a child for life. All of these situations require someone to step up and help.
That is where our guest today has come in. Debbie Ausburn is a social worker, turned lawyer, who has worked with youth-serving organizations for more than 40 years.  She has served as a camp counselor, juvenile court probation officer, group home parent, criminal prosecutor of crimes against children and as a litigation attorney advising youth-serving organizations throughout the United States.
Her most important challenges, however, have been parenting foster children and stepchildren.  She has never had biological children of her own, but she has collected seven children and ten grandchildren.  Praise God…
She has put the lessons that her children taught her over the years into a book titled, “Raising Other People’s Children: What Foster Parenting Taught Me about Bringing Together a Blended Family.”
Help me welcome to the program, Debbie Ausburn.  Debbi, thank you for taking the time to join us today. I do appreciate it.
First question I always start with is this…. Other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Debbie Ausburn?”
Let’s start with your book, “Raising Other People’s Children: What Foster Parenting Taught Me about Bringing Together a Blended Family.”  Why did you write this book?
In your book, “Raising Other People’s Children,” you share that your goal was never to replace the parent that was supposed to be there and raising the kids. But that your goal was to forge a strong and rewarding relationship with them.  In effect, becoming that child’s “Plan B” for support.  I guess the question I have for you is “How do you communicate that to a troubled child or teen that has been placed into your care?”
You share that you may not be the person who is “supposed to be there,” – but you are the person who “is there.”
Also in your book, you share it was a bit more difficult after you were married. How difficult was that transition time for him to, basically, “catch up” with those skills?
Can you explain for us a term you use, The “ACE” or “Adverse Childhood Experiences” that children suffer from? What is this and why is it important to understand?
You share a couple of examples that I think would be hard for someone to deal with if they were  not prepared for it themselves. The examples I’m thinking of involve attending a reunion or other event with the child’s biological family and relatives – and you receiving the “cold shoulder.” Can you share about those...

A Journey to Life – Marina Carrier pt 2

A Journey to Life Marina Carrier pt 2Heulwen Marina Carrier is our guest today, hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland.  Marina’s life has not been one of sunshine and roses. She was born as an illegitimate, unwanted child… suffered sexual abuse by her step-father up to age nine, when she was left for dead.
    But God. Amen. But God…
Despite her suffering, she continued to excel through school and through God’s provision, was able to pass her classes well enough to train for and become a teacher. Amen!
All her life, she continued to ask questions and gain wisdom through seeking the answers. This has enabled her to help those who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities to learn and grow as well.
She lived in denial of what she went through for many years, including her own husband’s betrayal.
One night, while praying she heard her name called and since then, now more than 30 years I believe, God called her back to the Church to minister to others who have also felt betrayal and abuse.  She says the went through the “dark night of the soul” and found the mystery of the “inner world” – and what it means to live in Spirit and in Truth. She learned the wonder of humility and the mystery of casting all her burdens on Christ – and live for Him and by Him. Amen!
She is a counselor to those that seek help. She is the author of trilogy of books, “Treasures of Darkness,” “Your Will Be Done,” and “Children of God.”
With all that being said, help me welcome to the program Marina Carrier!  Marian, it is such a blessing to have you on the program today!
This is part two to a great conversation with Marina Carrier.
After living in denial all those years, it started to catch up with you. You were beginning experience mental exhaustion at work, etc.  But then your marriage also fell apart.
The Lord led you through the “dark night of the soul.”  Share about that with us…
What is the “mystery of the inner world” which you talk about?
Share with us briefly about your books. You wrote a “Trilogy.” Was this the goal when you started or did it just end up that way?
Are these books independent of each other or should they be read in sequence?
How can someone obtain these books? Are they available on Amazon?
Tell us about your website. “Overcoming.Live” – that is an awesome name! Praise God.  What will someone find when they visit your website?
Marina, this has been so interesting. God Bless you for the work you have been doing and continue to do even now. Abuse, neglect, all of these things are such terrible tragedies, but we know that it is of the devil. Your work to bring the Light of God on these topics, the platform you use on your website, the books – all of it – is so awesome as you are being led by God step by step in this work is so commendable.  If someone has a question or would like more information or maybe even someone would like to invite you to do an interview such as this… how can they do that? How can someone get in touch with you?
I’ll put links to all of this in the show notes below…  Folks, I believe the Holy Spirit had you listen to this episode today for a reason.  He preordained that you would be listening to Marina Carrier right now!  Amen!  Do not let this opportunity pass you by without you taking some type of action. It...

The first question I always start with is this… other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Marina Carrier?”
From what I understand, you came to find out in your early childhood that, not only were you ostracized as being “illegitimate,” but you found out your mother had actually tried to abort you. Is that correct?
On top of all this, you were also abused by your step-father.  What did your mother do or did she even know this was going on?
Your now about nine years old, what happened that you were left for dead? What were the circumstances that led to that and how were you saved?
After that, you found the Lord had given you His Grace and His Spirit and you began to excel in school and things like that, correct?
Did you share this upbringing and abuse with anyone?
What led you into the calling of being a teacher?
Fast forward a few more years. You were now married, had an adopted child – and you received a scholarship to get your Ph.D.?

Summit in a Box – Krista Miller

Summit in a Box – Krista Miller

Summit in a Box Krista MillerVirtual Summits are now the most popular way to grow your online business. You can be in ministry and hold revivals online. I know. I did that when the COVID shutdowns first happened. Our ministry was one of the first in the nation to hold an online ministry summit after the shutdown.
We had 40 some pastors and ministers from around the nation come on the program over three days. We had over 700 visitors during the summit as we discussed the situation in light of Biblical prophecy and the need for repentance, etc.
But, I pieced that summit together using about four different platforms! It took three of us to run it when we went live… plus the emails and promotions… It was a success… but it was the LAST ONE I did for over two years…
Then, a month or two ago, the Lord put on my heart it was time for another summit of pastors to discuss prophecy in light of current events – again! I’m being honest, I was not thrilled He had put that in my heart and mind… amen!
But, a week or so after that day, I seen an email or something that caught my attention. It was from a wonderful young lady named Krista Miller and her business is called, “SUMMIT IN A BOX!”
Folks, I’m telling you, this was an answer to my prayers. Amen! I am so impressed by what I’ve learned so far… and we are now in the planning stages of holding our next online ministry summit… and I will be incorporating the summit concept into our podcast and marketing program as well. That’s how simple of a process Krista has made this – even I am wanting to do more summits! Amen!
Krista has this summit thing down to a fine art. She has helped so many people to run their summits, gain followers, make sales, etc. – I call her the “Summit Queen.” Amen!
If you are looking at a way to generate an increase in whatever it is you are doing, you need to grab a pen and paper and take notes today. I saw a Facebook post or something that caught my eye a month or so ago and Krista was sharing a little about her Faith – and I immediately told myself I was going to get her on this program to share all about her business and her non-profit with YOU. Amen!
Krista created her own summit system in 2017 while preparing for her first summit. She unexpectedly generated 4 times her normal monthly revenue from that one event! Praise God! She tripled her email list and booked her services out six months in advance – all from that first event. Amen! She quickly became THE recognized industry expert in summits as a result.
Krista Miller is here today to talk, not just about “Summit in a Box” but also some great work she is doing with a non-profit called, “CEO’s in the Word.” Praise God!
Help me welcome to the program, Krista Miller! Krista, it is a blessing to have you on the program with us today!
First question I always start with is this. Other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Krista Miller?”
When did you first start your online business and what were you doing?
How did you get introduced to online summits?
Do you remember your very first one? What was that like for you?
What was the evolution of “Summit in a Box” from what you first tried to where you are today – being able to help so many people successfully run their online summits?
Running or putting on summit is one thing… but the success or failure of the summit really rests on the value being provided during the summit, correct? Do you have any advice or guidance that you provide your clients in, not just using your system to hold the summits, but to guide them in making sure value is provided to the attendees?
You are also involved in starting a non-profit called, “CEO’s in the Word.” Share with us the vision you have for this organization…
This will be held by business professionals for their clients?
    I love the concept...

Business Ownership Simplified for Success – Michael Morrison

Business Ownership Simplified for Success – Michael Morrison

Business Ownership Simplified for Success Michael Morrison  For many of us, what started off as a great idea has become a nightmare of sorts. Being your own boss. Setting your own hours. Not having to answer to anyone?
Isn’t that how it all starts?  At first it’s fine. Even fun. But, with growth, comes the problems.  I know. I’ve run into that with the ministry?
When we first started, I could set the entire week on the radio station in about four hours on a Sunday afternoon.  Two years later, it had become a full time job. Four years into this, I was working 15 and 16 hour days, usually 7 days a week. And that was just to keep up.  I was ready to throw in the towel.
But, long story short, I started to hire some help. It allowed me to take as step back from having to do EVERYTHING – to now, passing off the routine tasks to others.
That’s just one quick example of what our guest today is helping many people to do.
Michael Morrison is a business coach, podcast host and for 20 years, a business owner. He now focuses on helping business owners to create a business that will run without the constant handling and day to presence of the owner.  Does that sound like a dream come true for some of you listening right now?
His business is called, “Business Ownership Simplified for Success” – or BOSS for short!  He is also the host of the “Small Business Pivots Podcast” and is the author of a great guide titled, “DO NOT Start or Run a Business, My Way!  Business and Life Lessons I Learned the Hard Way!”
Help me welcome to the program, Michael Morrison!  Michael it is a blessing to have you with us today!
First question I always start with is this. Other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Michael Morrison?
Your business, BOSS, or “Business Ownership Simplified for Success” sounds interesting to me – as you heard in my opening. This thing grew so quickly, it was not simplified in any way at all. The “Business” and the “Ownership” and the “Success” were happening – but the “Simplified” was nowhere to be found!
Do many of your clients come to you with the same situation?
Your tag line is “Create a Business that runs without you.”  That is an intriguing goal. How do you help your clients to achieve that dream?
On your website, I seen where you help to connect business owners with business loans and things like that. Are you the facilitator of the loans or just offering referrals, etc.?
Share with us about your book: “DO NOT Start or Run a Business, My Way!  Business and Life Lessons I Learned the Hard Way!”
What is the number ONE thing you recommend a small business owner should do FIRST – before they actually OPEN a business?
You host in person networking events in the Oklahoma City area, correct?
I want to ask you about your podcast, “Small Business Pivots Podcast.”
How long have you been podcasting?
Share with us about your podcast and what the listeners will learn…
Michael, this sounds great. If someone wanted to receive more information, ask a question or maybe invite you...
