Echoes of Babel:

The Timeless Warning for Modern Society

- TS Wright

Today's interview revolves around the profound implications of the Tower of Babel narrative, highlighting its relevance in contemporary society. Scott Wright discusses humanity's early quest for unity resulted not in harmony, but in disarray and division, and this lesson resonates with today's technological advancements and societal challenges.

We dive into why God's intervention was necessary during this historical moment, suggesting that the potential for human advancement without divine guidance could lead to perilous outcomes, reminiscent of the current technological landscape.

We then explore the parallels between Babel and modern initiatives like global governance and artificial intelligence, she emphasizes the inherent risks of pursuing unity apart from God's will.

Ultimately listeners are challenged to reflect on the direction of human ambition and the necessity of Christ in the pursuit of true progress and peace.

Takeaways:

  • The Tower of Babel serves as a historical cautionary tale regarding humanity's attempts at unity without divine guidance, illustrating the potential for confusion and disarray.
  • God's intervention at Babel was not merely to prevent construction but to protect humanity from advancing beyond His intended purpose for them.
  • Modern technological advancements, particularly in artificial intelligence and global connectivity, resonate with the ambitions exhibited at Babel, raising concerns about ethical governance and autonomy.
  • The discussion highlights the critical importance of integrating Christ into human progress to ensure that advancements do not lead humanity away from God's divine plan.
  • The Abrahamic Accords signify a potential precursor to global unity reminiscent of Babel, prompting believers to be vigilant about the implications of such movements.
  • Scott Wright emphasizes that true unity and peace cannot be achieved outside of God's will, underscoring the need for spiritual guidance amidst collective human endeavors.

Speaker A:

Hello, everyone, everywhere.

Speaker A:

Pastor Bob Thibodeau here.

Speaker A:

Welcome to the Kingdom Crossroads podcast.

Speaker A:

Today.

Speaker A:

We're so blessed that you're joining us.

Speaker A:

What if I told you that humanity's first ever great attempt at unity ended not in triumph, but in confusion and scattering?

Speaker A:

What am I talking about?

Speaker A:

We know it as the Tower of Babel.

Speaker A:

The story of the Tower of Babel isn't just a relic of ancient history.

Speaker A:

It's a powerful warning that echoes into our modern world today as well.

Speaker A:

Why did God intervene when humanity sought to build something so monumental together?

Speaker A:

Was it simply a tower, or was it something far more sophisticated, something that threatened to actually pull mankind beyond God's divine plan?

Speaker A:

Well, today we're going to look at how the lessons of the Tower of Babel may have a startling revelation for us right now.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Right here in our modern time as we are standing on the brink of basically technological and society advancements that could be leading us straight into the end times.

Speaker A:

Is that right?

Speaker A:

Well, to help us find out the answers to these questions, Scott Wright, author of the God Centered Concept Journal, host of the God Centered Concept podcast, he's back with us again today.

Speaker A:

Scott is a respected teacher on biblical prophecy and the end times.

Speaker A:

His insights into Bible prophecy help us to understand that the end times are both profound and timely.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Help me.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to the program Scott Rice.

Speaker A:

Scott, it's a blessing to have you back again, my brother.

Speaker B:

Hey, great to be back and look forward to another fun and fruitful discussion.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

So we're all familiar with the story of the Tower of Babel, but what really happened at the Tower of Babel?

Speaker A:

And why did God see the need to intervene in such a dramatic way?

Speaker B:

You know, I got one phrase.

Speaker B:

God's timing.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's all about God's timing.

Speaker B:

And had God left them alone, I want you to think about this.

Speaker B:

They would have very quickly created a world like we have now.

Speaker B:

Wouldn't have taken a while because they would have had the collection of all the.

Speaker B:

The thinking and abilities of all the people of the world speaking one language and being able to cooperate.

Speaker B:

And I mean, think about how quickly they were able to progress together.

Speaker B:

They would have easily progressed to other things and they would have.

Speaker B:

They would have been able to technologically advance very rapidly, but it was going to create a very dangerous situation and it was really a danger to themselves and they didn't even realize it.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker B:

I think that God had to.

Speaker B:

Had to put a stop to that for a reason.

Speaker B:

He had.

Speaker B:

He had to do that and I'll just tell you the reason.

Speaker B:

It's Jesus Christ.

Speaker B:

See much?

Speaker B:

Just like in the Garden of Eden, the reason God had to get Adam and Eve out of the garden is so they wouldn't have eaten from the Tree of Life and became eternal without Christ.

Speaker B:

We need Christ before we become eternal.

Speaker B:

You know, Christ needs to be the one that leads us into that eternal.

Speaker B:

And same thing here.

Speaker B:

These people would have become advanced like this.

Speaker B:

Without Christ.

Speaker B:

Well, we had already seen the world once.

Speaker B:

God had already seen the world once.

Speaker B:

What happened without Christ?

Speaker B:

He had already seen what he had to do to people.

Speaker B:

He had to destroy them.

Speaker B:

He had to destroy mankind and all the nephilim and, and all the things that were happening.

Speaker B:

Well, without Christ.

Speaker B:

Yeah, without Christ, yeah.

Speaker A:

I just think, though, why do you think humanity, unity and cooperation were considered dangerous in that context?

Speaker A:

What does that tell us about God's plan for us today?

Speaker B:

Well, basically, when man is doing things apart from God's will and without Christ, it's always going to lead them in a direction, away from him.

Speaker B:

It's always going to take them outside of God's will and away from God's plan.

Speaker B:

And God's plan for humanity before they became this advanced was to put Christ in the intermix of that.

Speaker B:

Christ had to mix in with that and bring us the gospel to save us.

Speaker B:

We couldn't do it on our own.

Speaker B:

So what man would have been doing is trying to reach God, which is kind of what they were doing with the tower and in all their ways become more godlike and do it without Christ.

Speaker B:

And that is not God's plan.

Speaker B:

Salvation could not happen without Jesus Christ, without his blood.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

You know, in our modern world with computers and all that, you know, with the advancements in AI, artificial intelligence, global connectivity and space exploration, do you see parallels to the ambitions of the people at Babel?

Speaker B:

Absolutely.

Speaker B:

I mean, think about how advanced they became.

Speaker B:

And I'm going to give a good example of this.

Speaker B:

So the people groups of the world were all gathered in one place.

Speaker B:

So, and, and there's been some speculation that some of these peoples were kind of already scattered around the one continent that it seems that existed then.

Speaker B:

It wasn't all the different continents yet and didn't split apart till after that.

Speaker B:

But most of the people were there and at least everybody that was within a certain type of tribe was all there.

Speaker B:

Now I want you to think about this.

Speaker B:

What is the United States?

Speaker B:

It's the great melting pot.

Speaker B:

We have peoples from every tongue, tribe, and Nation almost right here in the United States.

Speaker B:

the United states since about:

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

In 200 years.

Speaker B:

I want you to just literally see what the America's become.

Speaker B:

Because in:

Speaker B:

We were a fledgling.

Speaker B:

We.

Speaker B:

I mean, we just weren't.

Speaker B:

We just weren't there yet.

Speaker B:

And within 60 years, 50 to 60 years, America became the world's superpower.

Speaker B:

And think about it collectively, all those people groups with freedom to think and do and to build.

Speaker B:

The way that they did, the way that we did this, is that our society was set up that people could do that.

Speaker B:

You know, they weren't being.

Speaker B:

They weren't being controlled anymore.

Speaker B:

And when you see all these people groups with all these different ideas coming together, this is what you get.

Speaker B:

Well, what was.

Speaker B:

What could have happened easily at the Tower of Babel, they were already doing it.

Speaker B:

They were showing that when they were just free to make all their own decisions and free to work together in unity like that, all these different things that they were coming up with.

Speaker B:

And my guess is the Tower of Babel was not the only thing they had come up with.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker B:

They were going in all kinds of different directions.

Speaker B:

This is what happens, is that the advancements explode.

Speaker B:

The United States became the United States because of that very same thing that was happening at the Tower of Babel.

Speaker B:

And so we are a good example of what would have happened.

Speaker B:

But what we have now and what we already had in place was the church through the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, they did not have that yet.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

You know, at the time of this recording, we just seen President Trump and the leaders of AI announce that joint collaborative effort called Stargate.

Speaker A:

And this is being touted as the AI system that's going to do all of this amazing stuff.

Speaker A:

You know, And I immediately thought about the Antichrist system that has to be in place for this governing authority.

Speaker A:

What are your thoughts on that?

Speaker B:

Well, here's what I think we've.

Speaker B:

We've been watching.

Speaker B:

I mean, not getting into politics too deeply here, but we've been watching the last four years of a very corrupt government.

Speaker B:

We've been watching it for a long time.

Speaker B:

It's not just the last four years.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker B:

But we've been watching this hurl itself, and not just in the United States, but across the globe.

Speaker B:

People are growing weary of corrupt governments.

Speaker B:

They are.

Speaker B:

And so at what point are people going to turn to AI to govern them because they're tired of the corruption of man and man trying to lord itself over them.

Speaker B:

And, you know, now it's.

Speaker B:

Governments are trying.

Speaker B:

What they try to do is they want to control you, but they have to paint the picture that they're protecting your rights.

Speaker B:

Yeah, they have to protect.

Speaker B:

They have to act like they're giving you freedom, and yet they slowly can strip it away.

Speaker B:

And so what I.

Speaker B:

What I see happening moving forward, and we've talked about this a little bit already in the show when we talked about AI, and it's this right here, and this is the big one, is that you cannot do anything apart from the will of God and have something else govern you other than God's spirit.

Speaker B:

And it turn out in a way that will perpetuate Christ and bring real peace and unity.

Speaker B:

You can't do it, whether it's individually or collectively, as a.

Speaker B:

As a big group or just, you know, as an individual person.

Speaker B:

But here's the thing.

Speaker B:

This AI, it's almost like it's starting to become that thing.

Speaker B:

And it's.

Speaker B:

There's.

Speaker B:

There's already lots of examples of this where they're trying to use it to replace, almost replace what God is to us.

Speaker B:

I mean, it's almost like they're making AI the God.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

And, you know, you see stories and read stories or hear, you know, theories about how it could advance to the point where it will start to defend itself if someone tries to go in and slow it down, shut it down, reprogram it, you know, and Terminator 3.

Speaker A:

Yeah, exactly.

Speaker B:

You know, Skynet, I mean, we got Stargate, Skynet, those.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

You know, oh, my gosh, I've.

Speaker B:

I've tried to sit here and think about that.

Speaker B:

Skynet.

Speaker B:

Yep, exactly.

Speaker A:

I mean, that's.

Speaker A:

That's the.

Speaker A:

The thoughts that were going through my head as they were announcing this, you know, and I was like, this is not good.

Speaker A:

You know, they make it.

Speaker A:

They dress it up, you know, but, you know, it's like now I use AI, I have chat GPT to, you know, I need the answer to something real quick.

Speaker A:

I'll go in and ask, type thing.

Speaker A:

And it seems to be a lot, a lot faster than Google is on.

Speaker A:

On this stuff.

Speaker A:

You know, it used to be, you know, I Google it like, you heard me tell the story about how I, you know, started my broadcasting career on a flip cell phone and a free website.

Speaker A:

Had no idea how to do it.

Speaker A:

So I went to the great savior Google, to figure it out.

Speaker A:

Now it'd be chat GPT you.

Speaker A:

But, you know, and.

Speaker A:

And I mean, I interviewed one guy I can't I can't.

Speaker A:

Oh, Lord.

Speaker A:

I can't remember the name of it, but it was the first prototype of a sentient AI, right, that he developed.

Speaker A:

And I can't remember the name of it right now.

Speaker A:

Good Lord.

Speaker A:

But I mean, it was weird, you know, and you'd ask this thing, and he had.

Speaker A:

Had.

Speaker A:

It was developed where it would look like a female, you know, face on the computer and stuff, and.

Speaker A:

And, you know, you'd ask a question that.

Speaker A:

That was trying to trick it into condemning itself.

Speaker A:

You know, a question, maybe long lines of, you know, could you advance to the point where, you know, you would try to defend yourself by hurting other human beings and this thing would get a frown on its face.

Speaker A:

Know, like, my programming does not allow that, you know, or something like that.

Speaker A:

You know, I mean, but I mean, it was like it was getting, you know, ticked off at you for even asking that kind of question.

Speaker A:

I was like.

Speaker A:

And that was the first prototype.

Speaker A:

This is like several years ago, probably three years ago or more.

Speaker A:

And I was like, man, this is weird.

Speaker A:

This is weird stuff.

Speaker B:

You remember the show Persons of Interest?

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

That was a good show.

Speaker B:

I liked it.

Speaker B:

And there's some validity to what we're talking about that compared to that.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

In that type of thinking.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

The preemptive, you know, we heard stories about, you know, oh, he's.

Speaker A:

He's going down the path where he's going to commit a crime, so we better intercede now and stop it before a crime is committed.

Speaker A:

And the charges were like, you thought about doing it.

Speaker A:

I mean.

Speaker B:

Remember the movie.

Speaker A:

People.

Speaker A:

There have been people I work for, bosses I worked for.

Speaker A:

That.

Speaker A:

That would have had to intercede.

Speaker B:

There was a movie there.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker B:

Don't you remember?

Speaker B:

There was a movie with Tom Cruise in it and.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah, the man.

Speaker B:

I still remember all that.

Speaker B:

The.

Speaker B:

I'm trying to think.

Speaker B:

There was a.

Speaker B:

There's a guy that does a lot of Christian movies now that was in that, too, and I forgot his name and he played the cop.

Speaker B:

That was Jason.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Well, do you believe that today's push for one world government or global unity could mirror the effects of the Tower of Babel?

Speaker A:

And if so, what should be watching?

Speaker A:

What should believers be watching out for?

Speaker B:

Could it.

Speaker B:

I think it already is.

Speaker B:

I mean, look at the.

Speaker B:

The Tower of Babel's already been built again.

Speaker B:

It's called in Dubai.

Speaker B:

Go look at that.

Speaker B:

Go look at the tallest structure in the world.

Speaker B:

These.

Speaker B:

These things are already being put in place.

Speaker B:

I mean, We've got the Abrahamic Accords that are bringing the world to unity and getting Israel to a piece.

Speaker B:

You've got.

Speaker B:

And think of the major players there that are involved.

Speaker B:

And now that Iran's being silenced and Hamas and, and Hezbollah are all being basically put down, is that going to open the door for Saudi Arabia to normalize relations with Israel?

Speaker B:

Because if they do, that's the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, and quite frankly, Dubai.

Speaker B:

I mean, excuse me, UAE or Dubai.

Speaker B:

You know, Dubai's in the uae.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Those two countries are excessively powerful in that region.

Speaker B:

They are because of their, of their financial status.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And they have good relationship relations with the United States, both of those countries.

Speaker B:

So if you get those two on board, which they've already got one, you get the second one on board.

Speaker B:

That is going to, that's going to open a pathway, I believe, that gets basically the parts of revelation where we have this, the peace, or at least the false piece.

Speaker B:

It's going to open the door for all that to happen.

Speaker B:

So we're, I think we're going to see.

Speaker B:

I, I would not be shocked by the end of Trump's term that Saudi Arabia has not normalized and joined the Abrahamic Accords.

Speaker B:

They don't normalize those relations.

Speaker B:

So, I mean, even Biden was pushing for that.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And that was part of why Iran backed Hezbollah and Hamas to do what they did.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

But now, and what's funny is that's, now that's came to an end.

Speaker B:

I mean, we seen the ceasefire and I guess Iran decided that they didn't want to take on Trump.

Speaker B:

So it reminded me of the Iran hostage scandal.

Speaker B:

I mean, when Reagan's coming to office, they were like, we better release these prisoners or we may not like what's coming next.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Speaker B:

Our, our rule may be at an end, so.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker B:

And I had a feeling that something was probably communicated under the table, that Carter and Reagan probably use that to, hey, you can deal with it now or you can deal with this guy over here who's going to put about 50 bombs in your living room.

Speaker B:

So you have a choice.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But it's, it happens now.

Speaker B:

So I, I would imagine something was going on there behind the scenes.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I would not be shocked if they didn't use the same type of tactics Biden and Trump did.

Speaker A:

Oh, absolutely, absolutely.

Speaker B:

And you will never know.

Speaker B:

They're not going to come out and say all that.

Speaker A:

I remember, I think it was Trump, I can't remember now, his first session where they were negotiating with the leader of the terrorist organization about releasing these people or the.

Speaker A:

Or doing what may have been negotiations in Afghanistan or something like that.

Speaker A:

And this guy wasn't gonna do.

Speaker A:

Nope, nope, nope.

Speaker A:

So they went over and they, they showed, you know, this is what's going to happen.

Speaker A:

And I showed him a picture.

Speaker A:

He goes, why are you showing me a picture of my house?

Speaker A:

He says, think about it.

Speaker A:

And suddenly they had this peace deal.

Speaker B:

My gosh.

Speaker B:

I mean, hey, that's.

Speaker B:

That's the gospel.

Speaker B:

Luke chapter 14.

Speaker B:

Yeah, amen talks about that, so.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Well, Scott, as usual, this is so interesting.

Speaker A:

How can someone reach out to you with questions?

Speaker A:

They want to get more information, maybe invite you to an interview such as this?

Speaker B:

You bet.

Speaker B:

God centered concept@:

Speaker B:

So GCC, God centered concept:

Speaker B:

Not.

Speaker B:

Not writing it out.

Speaker A:

So yeah, we need to go over that again.

Speaker A:

That's been probably a year or so since we talked about what.

Speaker A:

Maybe more that.

Speaker A:

Talk about what that:

Speaker B:

Sure.

Speaker B:

Maybe we do that here on the next one.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Just to refresh everyone's memory because it's been such a long time.

Speaker A:

We got new listeners and people probably won't be able to find that episode because it was so far back.

Speaker A:

So we just refresh that to the top because that day and time is rapidly approaching.

Speaker B:

It is.

Speaker B:

It definitely is.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

Well, man, hey, this has been a great discussion.

Speaker B:

I.

Speaker B:

The Tower babble.

Speaker B:

You know, I think people.

Speaker B:

The thing is that just look, it's almost like the same phrase as it was in the days of Noah.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

As it was in the days of the building of the Tower of Babel.

Speaker B:

And people, people are a restless group.

Speaker B:

Human beings are restless and they're.

Speaker B:

We're always trying to progress and grow.

Speaker B:

The thing is, is that I like the Jurassic park phrase.

Speaker B:

They were so preoccupied if they could, they didn't stop and think if they should.

Speaker B:

And part of that should is are we bowing to God and asking him what his will is?

Speaker B:

You know, and we have to, we have to remember that.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Well, folks, I can't emphasize enough how important it is for you to realize, you know, we're living right now and what the Bible calls the last of the last days.

Speaker A:

So these are the days that have been prophesied as the end times, and they're here right now.

Speaker A:

About your host

Profile picture for Robert Thibodeau

Robert Thibodeau

I am a 12 year Army veteran as both enlisted and as a commissioned Cavalry Officer.
I am now a retired law enforcement supervisor...

I had my own business for seven years before I entered law enforcement.

As a cop, I was injured on the job on May 12, 2007 and after several surgeries over a couple of years, forced to retire in 2011.

As I was looking down the road to “what am I going to do next?” I started what is now known as a podcast (I had no clue at the time).

Within six months of starting (what I called) “My online radio program” I was offered an opportunity to be on nationwide AM radio. I learned A LOT in one year of doing that!

I then started the online Christian radio platform "Evangelism Radio" in the fall of 2010. It has had listeners in 160+ nations and all 50 states. We host 50+ Christian broadcasters on a weekly basis. We have been operating 24/7 for almost 14 years now. We have been rated #1 in the world by Shoutcast. com on several occasions in our genre. We recently transferred ownership of Evangelism Radio to another ministry so I could concentrate full time on podcasting, preaching and writing.

In 2018, I started the Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast to conduct interviews with Christian influencers from all walks of life and to play their interviews on the radio station. (The KCR Podcast has its own time slot on Evangelism Radio)!
We now have over 1600 episodes and almost 1100 interviews (in just over 6 years).

Looking out at the future of online Christian media, I noticed there was no viable platforms that catered only to the Christian podcast market.

In 2023, we launched a networking platform called, "FaithCasters" which connects "Great Christian podcasters with Great Christian Guests!" This helps to promote the work you do through podcast interviews! Check it out at https://FaithCaster.org

We recently launched "FaithCaster Academy" which serves as a training hub for ALL of our trainings (podcast training / speaker training / interview training, etc.). Members receive access to ALL of our training programs for one low, monthly membership fee. Members also receive FREE access to ALL of the LIVE trainings I conduct (1 or 2 per month) - while non-members have to pay to access the live trainings.

Between my podcast training program, conducting podcast interviews, appearing on other podcasts as guests, speaking at conferences (in person and virtually) and the podcast networking platform, I guess you could say “I’m all in” when it comes to podcasting and online media!

My total focus is to do all we can to assist you to “Get The Word Out” about your mission, services, products, ministry, books, business, etc.
