When we look around us, especially in western society, specifically the United States…it grieves my heart to think about the world we are leaving our children and grandchildren. I cannot fathom having to raise a family in this culture in which we live. I thank God I did not have to face the things our children face on a daily basis and somehow survive! I mean, I made some bad choices growing up…but the bad choices I made pale in comparison to some of the things considered as “normal” in today’s society.

On the line with us today is Mark Hamby, the Founder and President of Lamplighter Ministries – and I want you listen to me…because Mark’s background is like so many children in today’s culture… Mark Hamby hated reading as a child. And I would venture to say that is the prevailing ideology in today’s society as well.
When Mark Hamby became a Christian at age 22, he was introduced to Christian biographies which ignited a passion in his heart for great Christian literature. He was always looking for a role model whom he could follow, someone from whom he could learn from and who would inspire and motivate him in his new life of faith. When he read his first biographies of D. L. Moody, George Mueller, Hudson Taylor, Amy Carmichael, Gladys Alward, and Abraham Lincoln, he knew he had found his mentors. Amen… those are some great mentors! Praise God.
Today, Mark is still praying the prayer of D. L. Moody: “The world has not yet seen what God can do through one man wholly committed unto Christ.”
Lamplighter Ministries now has two hundred titles published and two million copies in print! AMEN!
I just talked briefly about the culture in which we live today. You are releasing a new series called “The Giant Killer.” Why do you believe this is so needful at a time like in which we live today?
How does this story relate to people in ministry today?
The hero of the story is named FIDES. Did I say that correctly? Tell us the background of the hero in the story…
He develops WISDOM on his quest to defeat these giants in the land. How does he get this WISDOM?
There are several giants discussed in this story…let’s go through some of them.
The giant of SLOTH – what is that about?

There is the giant of Untruth…explain…
The giant of Selfishness is definitely one that we can see operating in our society today…
The giant of HATE is very prevalent today…explain how this story takes on that giant.
