Episode 349 – Non Profit Marketing In The Modern Age – David Somerfleck pt 1

Non Profit Marketing in the Modern Age – David Somerfleck Interview

As a pastor, ministry leader or as business professional, especially an online business – you know how important digital marketing of your services can be. Even a traditional “brick and mortar” business, has a presence on the web. And if you are on the web, if you church has a website, if your ministry has a blog or any digital foot print – you need to know all about Search Engine Optimization, or SEO. You need to understand how to market your ministry, your non-profit organization or your business, on the web.

In order to do that, you need a professional digital marketing company in order to do it effectively. You can do it on your own and learn from your own mistakes. Or you can pass it off to someone in your church that knows slightly more about digital marketing than you do. Or, you can hire a professional and save the cost, not just in dollars, but in time spent on these things as well.

That is where my guest today, David Somerfleck with “Sudden Impact” digital marketing can help. David IS a professional at what he does. He has put together, along with his wife, a team of professionals that can handle just about any digital marketing scenario that you could think of.

David is the author of five books, a former college professor, the founder of two startup, an expert in digital marketing, SEO, website development, social media marketing, content marketing, Google Adwords, Facebook advertising and even traditional advertising! He is also an active member of “The Internet Society” (I did not even know there WAS an “Internet Society” – we will have to talk more about that…David is also a member of the Webmasters Association! WOW!

Help me welcome to the program, David Somerfleck!  David, that is quite a list! Do you ever sleep?  Glory to God!

Ok, David, I always start with this one question first. Other than that short bio I read, tell us in your own words, “Who is David Somerfleck?”

Tell us a little bit about how Digital Marketing is different from what we know or call, “Traditional Marketing?”

Ok, a normal, traditional business has to get foot traffic, they have to get people coming into the store. How does the marketing aspect of that type of business differ from an online store? How can we get “foot traffic” into our online store?

If I were coming to you in behalf of a church, let’s say, what questions would you ask to see what I needed in the way of your services?

If I build a website, put a blog on it and make a weekly blog of my Sunday sermon – and that’s it…will Google find me? And will Google promote my website?

Explain the major difference, other than cost, that an organization would be looking at between FREE traffic and PAID traffic?

So, you have told what marketing is, (I think), can you tell us what marketing IS NOT?

I know many smaller churches are on a very tight budget. It should not be that way, but this is the day and time we are living in… how can a church or smaller ministry use your services on a limited budget?

How do you calculate the Return on Investment (ROI) for a non-profit that would consider using your services?

Should we use Crowd Funding as a source of revenue that could purchase your services on an advanced level? Is Crowd Funding even considered as “good marketing” these days?

I know some pastors who have to work another job, sometime two jobs, in order to everything going, both as a ministry and at home. How can a person like that find the funds to hire you?

Can a non-profit use your services and establish a presence on the web, or use your services to increase their revenue? What would they have to sell? Books, CD’s (do people even use CD’s anymore)?

Could a pastor use your services if he wanted to branch out into public speaking, perhaps inside other churches or launch an entirely new branch of ministry –speaking at business conferences, etc.?

David, we are almost completely out of time. I hate this clock – it always seem to run fast!  If someone wanted to get more information about you, your company, etc. How can they do that?

Folks, I want to encourage you to purchase at least ONE of David’s books – if not 2, 3 or all five! Amen! (Don’t look at me with that tone of voice? I can hear you thinking, Glory to God).  We need, as a body, as THE Body of Christ – we need to support businesses, authors, etc. that have a Christian base – a Christian attitude in what they are doing. We nee to support people like David Somerfleck and his wife and team. We need to do what we can to help them out, and, as David alluded to several times, “not break the bank in the process.” Amen!

Go on Amazon and order his books. I’ve put the links to some in the show notes…that’s all the time we have for today. For David Somerfleck and myself, this is Pastor Robert Thibodeau…

Profile picture for TS Wright

TS Wright

Hello. My name is TS Wright, and I am the voice of the Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast and author/TV host of the God Centered Concept.

For the past 33 years I have been involved in Christian ministry. Ranging from ministry, teaching and coaching in both public and private high schools and college, I have worked with students, athletes and adults from all walks of life. I have been involved with a host of Christian organizations included but not limited to CRU, FCA and other outreach & church affiliated ministries. Also being ordained in Christian ministry and being both a biblical and historical scholar I have focused on Discipleship, Biblical truth, prophecy & historical theology. I have also authored 4 books, a journal and a devotional series which are all now in the editing phase.

In 2003 and 2004 the Lord cast a series of visions on my life as to what would become the God Centered Concept.

In 2016, the Lord called me to start writing.

In 2019, He cast another series of visions that has led me to now.

In 2023, I was led to starting Podcasting and through divine intervention found Pastor Bob. I became a frequent guest speaker on the Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast and being led by the Lord I have taken ownership of the Podcast.

I welcome all of you who are a part of the Kingdom Cross Roads community as well as everyone who is just joining our community as we continue to work to advance the Gospel and spark a Great Harvest. By expanding our message to the NOW TV Network it is our prayer that we can maintain the same level of quality messages and engaging conversations that you have been accustomed to. We thank you for your commitment to this community and we ask for your support and prayers as we strive to glorify God in all that He calls us to do.
