Rethinking Rest - Gregory Hall pt 2

Rethinking Rest

Gregory Hall pt 2

As Christians, we have heard the continuous arguments back and forth about a “Day of Rest.” Another term used is as “Sabbath of Rest.” The arguments form around if that is simply an Old Testament tradition that no longer is applicable for this modern age or Saturday’s are the day that needs to be recognized or Sunday is the day true “Christians” should observe because it is in recognition of the resurrection of Christ.

The divides are deep on this topic. They have resulted in denominational splits. These arguments have split families. These arguments have affected peoples employment opportunities as well.

To help us understand the true Biblical concept of REST is our guest, Gregory Hall. Greg was a pastor for 10 years and he served as an adjunct professor at a few local universities where he lives in the Northwest US. He has a podcast called, “Rethinking Scripture” and is the author of a great book, “Rethinking Rest: Why Our Approach to Sabbath Isn’t Working.”

There are many professions, I was in the military and also in law enforcement, and we were required to work rotating schedules that would include working on some Saturday’s and Sunday’s. Some were on, some off. Hospitals and other professions do the same. How does the Biblical “day of rest” and the “Sabbath” apply to those professions? Are people in “sin” because of their work schedule?

So, using that concept, that does not apply to running or swimming if it allows to “mentally rest” or maybe even things like cutting the grass or doing chores around the house If that gives us peace that would be considered “rest?”

At the end of your book, you have a very unique section that I found amazingly interesting. It made me think. You asked the question, “What did God do on the 8th Day?”  Can you share that insight with us, please?

I see in your book where you discuss Plato and his description of “shadows.” That caught my attention because I recently did a teaching on the “types and shadows” that Moses was told to pattern the elements of the Tabernacle after.  A shadow has no substance. It is only an indicator that something of substance is behind it. The Sabbath is mentioned as one of those shadows. How should we interpret those references concerning the commandment to observe the Sabbath day if it is a shadow of the true rest of God?

Drop down into the show notes and order your copy of Greg’s book now. While you are there, reach out to Greg. Check out his podcast, it’s an interesting listen as well. Amen!

About the Podcast

Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast
Awakening the Church for the Great Harvest one message at a time
Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast is a Bible-centered program devoted to helping believers understand Scripture, discern the times, and faithfully navigate the spiritual, historical, and prophetic crossroads confronting the Church and the world.

Hosted by TS Wright (an author, biblical scholar, and Apostolic and Prophetic Teacher) each episode explores biblical theology, church history, prophecy, apologetics, Israel, world events, visions, dreams, and the unfolding purposes of God. By connecting the ancient truths of Scripture with the challenges of the present age, Kingdom Cross Roads offers thoughtful teaching and meaningful conversations designed to strengthen faith, sharpen spiritual discernment, and deepen understanding of the Kingdom of God.

The podcast examines the teachings and declarations of Jesus Christ, the messages to the seven churches in Revelation, the historical development of Christianity, the prophetic significance of nations and empires, and the spiritual condition of the modern Church. Episodes also explore influential biblical figures, overlooked historical events, ancient Jewish and Christian writings, and the remarkable ways in which Scripture, history, and prophecy intersect.

Kingdom Cross Roads is for listeners who desire more than surface-level inspiration. It is for those seeking serious biblical instruction, reliable historical context, prophetic insight, and a clearer understanding of where the Church has been, where it stands today, and where it may be headed.

At every crossroads, truth matters. Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast calls believers to search the Scriptures, discern the hour, remain faithful to Jesus Christ, advance the Kingdom of God, and prepare for what lies ahead.

"Now go forth in total surrender to the ONE who owns and reigns over all of creation and let the Great Harvest, begin!"

Hello. My name is TS Wright, and I am the voice of the Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast and author/TV host of the God Centered Concept.

For the past 33 years I have been involved in Christian ministry. Ranging from ministry, teaching and coaching in both public and private high schools and college, I have worked with students, athletes and adults from all walks of life. I have been involved with a host of Christian organizations included but not limited to CRU, FCA and other outreach & church affiliated ministries. Also being ordained in Christian ministry and being both a biblical and historical scholar I have focused on Discipleship, Biblical truth, prophecy & historical theology. I have also authored 4 books, a journal and a devotional series which are all now in the editing phase.

In 2003 and 2004 the Lord cast a series of visions on my life as to what would become the God Centered Concept.

In 2016, the Lord called me to start writing.

In 2019, He cast another series of visions that has led me to now.

In 2023, I was led to starting Podcasting and through divine intervention found Pastor Bob. I became a frequent guest speaker on the Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast and being led by the Lord I have taken ownership of the Podcast.

I welcome all of you who are a part of the Kingdom Cross Roads community as well as everyone who is just joining our community as we continue to work to advance the Gospel and spark a Great Harvest.
