Matthew Deibler, as a child of God, was born with a purpose. But he says he was a marked target of the devil. Unaware of this evil influence, Matthew fell under the spell of the devil’s deceit, drifting deep into the grip of mental illness before suffering a nervous breakdown—and being reborn in the faith. Amen!
Matthew has since founded the “Lamp on the Stand Motivational Ministry,”
which inspires faith-led transformation. He is an outspoken mental health advocate with nearly a decade of powerful influence in the mental health community, where he boldly shares the riveting story of his spiritual rebirth from the depths of panic-ridden agoraphobia, OCD, and addiction. He is also the founder of “The Outlet” which is a natural dialogue mental health community.
He is also the author of the book, “The Devil and the Children of God at the End of the World,” which will be the subject of our discussion today.
Help me welcome to the program, Mathew Deibler! Mathew, thank you for taking the time to join us today.
First question that I always start with is this. Other than that brief information I just shared, tell us in your own words, “Who is Mathew Deibler?”
Tell us about your struggle with mental illness and how that affected you and your those around you…
You feared leaving your own home? I believe that is what “agoraphobia” is, correct? How did you work, earn a living, etc?
You share in your book that the devil is the one who nurtured this phobia in you. How so?
Like you, I was raised as a Lutheran. When I joined the military, I did things that, well, let’s just say things that I’m ashamed of now. But when someone would come to me and try to witness to me, etc. I would fall back, “Oh, I’m a Christian. I got saved when I was in high school.” I would say that because I took the confirmation classes and all of that. Took the communion when I was confirmed and had the card that said so. But it wasn’t until 17 years later that I was at the end of my rope, almost literally, and when I share this, the only way I can describe it is Jesus INVADED my life. Only then did I realize I had been believing a lie about my salvation. Is that how it was with you?
Tell us about your life before 2011 and after 2011?
Your book says that you encountered the devil twice in your life. What do you mean by that?
How do you believe you became “lost in temptation” in your second encounter with the devil?
You share that sometimes God talks to you. You mention a few times. How do you differentiate the voice of God from, say your own conscience?
