The Christian Case for Bitcoin – Patrick Melder pt 2

The Christian Case for Bitcoin

Patrick Melder pt 2

There is no doubt that crypto-currency is here to stay. In fact, it is taken so serious by the United States Government, they are now requiring tax payers to declare if you are investing in Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies so they can get their share of your earnings! You often hear of how crypto-currencies are going to undermine the financial systems and how they are used on the dark web and things like that. And, though some of that may be true, for the vast majority of people, it is simply a way to invest in something that, for lack of a better term, does not involve “fiat currency” – which is what the US Dollar is based on. To explain how Christian ministries and Christians in general, can use Bitcoin to help establish, maintain and protect ministry operations – and our own personal finances, I’ve invited back to the program, Dr. Patrick Melder. Dr. Melder was on the show a few weeks ago as we discussed “Bitcoin for Churches.” His book, “The Christian Case for Bitcoin”was set for publication and we did discuss his book in the overall conversation. But I believe this information is so pivotal in our society and culture today, I wanted him to come back on and just do a deep dive into this book for you. Amen! He also hosts a weekly podcast: “Mission:Bitcoin, which is an interview podcast focusing on Bitcoin and Christianity, exploring Christian responsibility in adopting Bitcoin; How Bitcoin helps Christians align with God’s plan; and How Bitcoin can be used in Christian Missions. This is part two of an amazing two part interview and I know you will receive a lot of actionable content from today's episode. You also have a section discussing money and our culture. You used a formula to explain this with Money = Time = Energy. Can you explain how all of this correlates to our current economy? Some of the concerns that I’ve heard given, concerning Bitcoin and crypto-currency in general, is the security of the transactions. That it’s possible for someone to hack in and just drain your account and other things related to that. Is that true? Is it possible that someone, somewhere, perhaps the person (or persons) who invented Bitcoin, “Satoshi Nakamoto” or someone else, just “flip a switch” and all the Bitcoin disappears in an instant. Maybe even the government. Is that possible? The focus of your book is on “The Christian Case for Bitcoin.”  You share that “fire, the wheel, the printing press, the steam engine, electricity and then computers” were the greatest inventions of man. You explain that each was used to expand God’s Kingdom.  You believe that Bitcoin is now the latest and the greatest invention and believe that it will transform society as we know it.  You also state that, “…the use of Bitcoin is in complete alignment with God’s Truth,” and that “It is the first money that could aptly be called “God’s money.”  Can you explain this for us? How will Bitcoin be used in buying, saving, etc. like currency when dealing with stores, other nations, even our retirement savings, etc.  How is all of this going to play out in the grand scheme of things? It’s also possible for someone to mine their own Bitcoin, right? Can Christian ministries accept Bitcoin as part of their operations? Tell us about your podcast, “Mission: Bitcoin and what you discuss on your show… Patrick, this has been so interesting, I could keep on going for hours.  But we are about out of time for today. Your book, “The Christian Case for Bitcoin”,” how can someone obtain a copy of this book? Is it on Amazon? If someone wanted to get in touch with you, to ask a question or maybe do an interview such as this, how can they do that? How can they get in touch with you? I’ll put links to all of this down below in the show notes. I will also put a link to your podcast in the show notes as well. We didn’t even get a chance to talk about your podcast today – that’s how intense this discussion was about “The Christian Case for Bitcoin” – amen! Folks, as I said last time, crypto-currency is no longer just a fad. It is real. It is something, as you heard Patrick Melder discuss, could be used by Christians, not if, but WHEN a financial collapse happens. It will continue to grow in popularity and, Patrick, if I’m not mistaken, it’s already been accepted by El Salvador’s government as a valid currency, correct? Folks, just drop down into the show notes and click the links right there. Listen to the Patrick’s podcast, “Mission:Bitcoin as well. It is just full of information. Amen! And be sure to order his great book, “The Christian Case for Bitcoin” that we, really just highlighted some parts of it today. You need to get this book as one of your Christian resources and use it to guide you into understanding how Bitcoin can be used by Christian ministries and by Christians individually. Patrick, thank you for coming back on the program today. I do appreciate it!

TS Wright

Hello. My name is TS Wright, and I am the voice of the Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast and author/TV host of the God Centered Concept.

For the past 33 years I have been involved in Christian ministry. Ranging from ministry, teaching and coaching in both public and private high schools and college, I have worked with students, athletes and adults from all walks of life. I have been involved with a host of Christian organizations included but not limited to CRU, FCA and other outreach & church affiliated ministries. Also being ordained in Christian ministry and being both a biblical and historical scholar I have focused on Discipleship, Biblical truth, prophecy & historical theology. I have also authored 4 books, a journal and a devotional series which are all now in the editing phase.

In 2003 and 2004 the Lord cast a series of visions on my life as to what would become the God Centered Concept.

In 2016, the Lord called me to start writing.

In 2019, He cast another series of visions that has led me to now.

In 2023, I was led to starting Podcasting and through divine intervention found Pastor Bob. I became a frequent guest speaker on the Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast and being led by the Lord I have taken ownership of the Podcast.

I welcome all of you who are a part of the Kingdom Cross Roads community as well as everyone who is just joining our community as we continue to work to advance the Gospel and spark a Great Harvest. By expanding our message to the NOW TV Network it is our prayer that we can maintain the same level of quality messages and engaging conversations that you have been accustomed to. We thank you for your commitment to this community and we ask for your support and prayers as we strive to glorify God in all that He calls us to do.
